Jerry L. Burton

Jerry L. Burton, age 82, residing in Waynesville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2026. He was born in Xenia, Ohio on January 16, 1944.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lois (Smith) Burton; his son, Bradley Burton; as well as his sister, Patricia Burton.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Wiseman) Burton; daughter, Jill (Rob) Nice; son, Brian (Deana) Wiley; daughter-in-law, Deanna Burton; grandchildren, Josh Wiley, Ryan Wiley, Logan Burton, Aaron Wiley and Laura Wiley; as well as his great-granddaughter, Savannah Burton Hill.

Jerry graduated from Waynesville High School in 1962. He attended Morehead State University in Kentucky eventually graduating from the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas in 1966.

He loved playing baseball and basketball during his high school years and baseball in his college years playing at the Single A level on a farm team associated with the Cincinnati Reds.

Jerry taught in the Xenia, Ohio school district for 28 years but farming was his real passion. He was also a lifetime member of the local Lions Club.
