Jerry’s early years in Dayton formed the foundation for a life shaped by perseverance and a strong work ethic. After years of dedication, Jerry retired from General Motors, leaving behind colleagues who remember him for his reliability and camaraderie. Following his retirement, he spent meaningful years as a truck driver, enjoying the open road and forming bonds wherever his travels took him.

While Jerry took pride in his professional accomplishments, his deepest joy always centered around his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Branscomb, who was his companion and support throughout life’s journey. Cherished memories are held by his sons, Josh Branscomb (with his wife, Mindy), Chris Branscomb (with his wife, Amanda), Shayne DePugh (with his wife, Crystal), and Cody DePugh (with his wife, Teressa). His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Lucas (Emily), Kylah (Austin), Addelynn, Anniston, Ovid, Ives, and Torygg—whose lives he touched with wisdom and kindness. Jerry was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Karmen, who brought him special joy in his later years.

Family meant everything to Jerry. He was a devoted son to Cleo Branscomb, a caring brother to Junior Branscomb (and his wife, Betty), Tony Branscomb (and his wife, Peggy), and Dimple Bellamy (and her husband, Dan). He shared many meaningful moments with Benny, his loyal canine companion. Though he mourned the passing of his father, Floyd Branscomb, Jerry carried his memory forward in all he did.

Jerry’s personal interests reflected his vibrant spirit. He was passionate about singing and writing songs, gifting his loved ones with melodies filled with heart and meaning. The outdoors called to him—he found peace and adventure in hunting, fishing, and riding horses. Time spent traveling, especially on cruises with family and friends, created lasting, joyful memories.

Central to Jerry’s life was his unshakable faith. Psalm 121 offered him comfort and strength, guiding him through life’s challenges and inspiring those who knew him by his example of quiet, enduring belief.

Those honored to know Jerry will gather to celebrate his life during visitation on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the same location.

Jerry’s love, kindness, and integrity have left an indelible mark on his family and all who had the privilege of calling him friend. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
