Jerrold Carter "Jay", a beloved figure known for his generous spirit, captivating storytelling, and warm sense of humor, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on February 6, 1976, Jerrold lived a life marked by kindness and a big heart that touched all who knew him.
A native of Dayton, Jerrold found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly his passion for high school wrestling and watching football. These interests not only reflected his love for sport but also his dedication to community and camaraderie, qualities that defined his character.
Jerrold's family remembers him as a giving soul with a great capacity to share laughter and stories, making every gathering richer and every moment more memorable. He is survived by his beloved mother, Deborah Preston, and his father, Jerrold Lane. His legacy continues through his cherished son, Joseph Villalpando, who carried forward his spirit and values.
He is also mourned by his siblings-Stanford Carter, Conishia Perkins, and Latisha Easterling-who stood by him through all of life’s seasons. His aunts, Sheryl Carter, Theresa Carter, Linda Carter, and Carol Carter, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, remain deeply touched by his presence and mourn the loss of a truly special man.
Jerrold joins in eternal rest his uncle, Larry Carter, and grandmother, Julia Carter, whose memories he held dear throughout his life.
