Jeffrey Mark "Jeff" Sutton, age 74, born on June 10, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away on November 25, 2025, in Kettering, Ohio.
An alumnus of Meadowdale High School, Class of 1969, Jeff continued his education after graduation and received a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Bowling Green State University. While at BGSU he had the good fortune to meet the love of his life, Diane Pyle. Jeff was immediately enamored with Diane and thus began their journey. They dated 5 years before getting married in Berlin Heights OH, Diane’s hometown in 1976. Jeff was very sentimental, often surprising Diane with flowers or tickets to see a favorite performer. He was very supportive of Diane’s retirement activities with TWIG and Children’s Hospital. Their marriage lasted an incredible 49 years, showcasing a partnership built on family, love and mutual respect.
Jeff and Diane enjoyed their vacations! Jeff was both the vacation coordinator and driver. The trip was as much about the journey as it was the destination. Jeff was passionate about history, particularly Civil War history, often traveling with Diane and family to visit various battle sites and landmarks. They traveled to the Outer Banks of NC twice a year for 43 years and enjoyed spring hikes in the smoky mountains photographing wildflowers. They traveled to Florida and Milan OH to visit family regularly. They enjoyed road trips to Estes Park, Colorado and spent a few milestone wedding anniversaries in Maui, Hawaii.
Known for his funny, witty personality, Jeff possessed a sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. And he also had a quiet and unassuming nature, making him a gentle presence in the lives of his family and friends. Jeff was an avid reader who enjoyed many genres and found joy in several hobbies including golf, fishing, and NASCAR racing, where he followed the Kraft Bull’s Eye car. Out of everything he loved, nothing beat football - most of all The Buckeyes and The Bengals (bonus points if they won!) He'd even root for The Browns...as long as they weren't playing The Bengals. Jeff learned to water and snow ski at a young age. For a time, he and Diane had a boat at the Four Seasons Marina on the Ohio River, where they enjoyed many wonderful weekends with friends and family.
Jeff worked in a family asphalt business after leaving college and then moved into the food broker industry. He dedicated over 28 years of his professional life with Kraft Foods, where he earned bonus recognition for his efforts and was well-respected for his work ethic and commitment to excellence. Jeff had long term friendships with several colleagues from his Kraft days, and he visited with them as often as possible.
Jeff was a devoted husband and a cherished son and sibling. He leaves behind wife Diane, his mother, Barbara Loos; siblings, Rhona Sutton and Gerald (Jamie) Sutton; He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jim Pyle, and sister-in-law, Sallie (Bob) Meagrow. Nieces and nephews, include Audrey (Carl) Rohde, Eric (Samantha) Sutton, Ashley Brandt, Courtney (Chad) Saylor, and Kyle (Chelsey) Meagrow, and several grand nieces and nephews. Jeff leaves behind good friends. And lifelong pal Craig Schaefer who had been part of Jeff’s life since 1961 and was best man to Jeff at he and Diane’s wedding.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father Gerald “Jerry” Sutton, father-in-law Jim Pyle and stepfather Frank Loos, who was also a dear friend, golf companion, fishing buddy and co-navigator/conspirator on many family travel excursions and outings.
