Jeffrey (Jeff) Harrison, aged 53, of Xenia, passed away February 4, 2016 of natural causes. He was born September 22, 1962 in Xenia, Ohio, the son of James and Joanne Harrison. Jeff is survived by his mother, Joanne Harrison; daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Jesse Staton; grandson, Simon Staton; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Susan) Harrison, Thomas (Gina) Harrison, Michael (Michelle) Harrison, and Patrick (Robin) Harrison and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeff was also survived by his long-time friend and companion Amy Collins-Hale and her children Chelsea, Renee, and Josh, and their children. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, James E. Harrison Sr.
Jeff grew up in Xenia and attended St. Brigid Elementary. Later he played football for Carroll High School. He graduated from Xenia High School in the Class of 1981. Jeff was a member of St. Brigid Parish.
Jeff was most proud of his service with the United States Navy. He achieved the rank of hull technician fireman during his service. Jeff spent most of his service time on the east coast maintaining ships and submarines. In recent years Jeff enjoyed sharing his knowledge of military history and experiences at the veteran's administration center with other veterans.
Jeff's life was defined by his generous spirit and kind nature. He was the most helpful and genuinely caring person you could meet. Jeff's caring nature extended not only to those he knew, but also to strangers in need. He used his innate ability to make people smile and lift their spirits. Jeff's exuberant personality was contagious. Jeff also loved animals and shared his life with many furry friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 9-11am Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Brigid Church, with funeral to follow at 11:00. He will later be interred at the Dayton National Cemetery.
