Jay Burton Jr.

Jay Burton Jr., a true entrepreneur and salesman known for his strong will and spirited personality, passed away suddenly on March 19, 2026. Born April 30, 1953, in Lockland, Ohio, Jay was surrounded in his final moments by his faithful companion, Curry.

A proud graduate of Lockland High School's Class of 1971, Jay was known for his creativity, charm, and playful spirit, frequently delighting those around him with his mischievous pranks. His personality was one of warmth and strength, a dedicated father who cherished his family above all else. He was not only a loving father but also a proud grandfather, whose greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren.

Jay's career as an entrepreneur and salesman was marked by perseverance and skill, and he earned a reputation for his sharp instincts. Beyond his professional achievements, Jay found joy in simpler pleasures: watching old westerns, Planet of the Apes, and the Golden State Warriors. He loved going to the movies and spending time at the dog park with Curry. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Jay was famously known among friends and family for making “the shot”.

He is survived by his sons, Jaman Burton (Lily Newhouse) and Jason Burton (Stephanie Williams); his daughter, Caitlin Burton; and his beloved grandchildren, Alex and Payton (mother Stephanie Fritsch) and Jayda Burton (mother Tricia Thompson). Jay also leaves behind his brother, Melvin Burton (Lisa), former wives (Deldra Eaton and Terri Burton), his dog, Curry, and many other family members and friends who cherished him deeply.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Burton and Anna Lee Burton; siblings Eugene Burton, Billy Burton, Michael Burton, and Patti Blankenship; and his beloved dog, Hathi. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the lives he touched.

Jay's life was a tapestry of hard work, love, humor, and spirituality. He will be remembered for his indelible spirit, his heartfelt love for his family, and the joy he brought to those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.

To honor Jay and his upcoming birthday, a gathering with family and friends will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church (Oakley) in the chapel, located at 3500 Madison Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45209. In tribute to Jay’s memory, feel free to wear your favorite sneakers!
