Janet Spear

Janet “Jan” Spears a lifelong resident of Dayton, OH was born on December 02, 1953 to the late William “Eddie” and Zettie Spears. Janet a proud alumna of Roosevelt High School, departed this life Saturday, December 27, 2025 at her residence after a lengthy illness with family by her side.

Janet is Preceded in death by the love of her life Gregory Nash. Son: Gregory D. Spears. Parents: William E. and Zettie M. Spears. Paternal Grandparents: Lige and Mildred Spears. Maternal Grand Parents: John Martin and Lillie M. Jones. Brothers: William A. and Douglas E. Spears. Aunts: Jessie (Carl) Mitchell, Josie (Robert) Spears, and Johnnie M Lane. Uncles: Robert “Big Bob” (Josie) Spears and Carl (Jessie) Mitchell.

Janet leaves to cherish her memory with her loving and devoted Daughters: Shawnta and La’Donna Spears. Son: Antonio Spears, MPA, PsyM. Grandchildren: La’Ceshia Reddick,LPN, Dae’Shawn, Ja’Marr Spears and Jeffery Buchanan, Jr. Great Grandchildren: Jariah, Amarie, Dayvion, Lamar, Travaeah, Zharia, and Ja’Mir. Great Great Grandchild: Daymier. Sisters: Joyce (Spears) Childs, Mildred Spears, Theresa Compton, Erica Kirksey. Brother: Darren Knox of Florida. First Cousins: Derrick (Teresa) Mitchell, Dr Bishop Robert “Bob” (Fran) Mitchell of Stafford, VA, Carolyn (Derrell) Mitchell-Fuqua, David (Dr Linda) Mitchell of Washington, DC, Debra Mitchell, Sheila Smith, Sharon Lane, and Frederick “Freddy” Lane. Nieces, Nephews, and a host of family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 12pm to 1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral will begin at 1pm also at the funeral home.
