Janet Lucille Lang, a cherished and vibrant soul, passed away on June 11, 2026, in Kettering, Ohio. Born on August 5, 1941, in Marion, Ohio, Janet's life was marked by a deep commitment to her family, faith, community, and profession, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and spirited joy.
Janet graduated from Xenia High School and further pursued her passion for helping others by earning her Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Kettering Hospital. She dedicated many years of her career as a Respiratory Therapist at Kettering Hospital, where her compassionate care and professional expertise touched the lives of countless patients.
Known for her family-oriented nature, great sense of humor, and sassy, vibrant spirit, Janet adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her giving heart extended beyond her family to her community involvement. She was an active volunteer at both Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Ascension Catholic Church, where she also worked in the office at Immaculate Conception. Janet’s kindness extended to helping the homeless and volunteering with St. Vincent DePaul and BINGO, sharing her caring spirit with all those in need.
Janet's hobbies and interests beautifully reflected her lively personality and love of life. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, traveling, playing BINGO, crafting, and had a special fondness for Elvis Presley’s music. Her unique style was often showcased by her playful collection of different pairs of glasses, each one a reflection of her personality. She loved spending time at the local Eagles and VFW, where she found camaraderie and joy.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Anne Marie (Dennis Tomlin) King; her treasured grandchildren, Ashley (Doug) Gamble, Casey (Jessica) King, Evan (Brooke) Lang, Amber Ward, Richard Ward, and Jay Ward; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Charley Abney, Conner King, Sheenagh King, Saorise King, Keely King, Kellan King, Destiny Ward-Jackson, Chasity Jackson, Lamont Jackson, and La-Marion Jackson. Janet also leaves behind her devoted siblings Norma Hogan, Ike (Pat) Belt, Brenda (George) Henry, and Pam (Bill) Woodson, who were an integral part of her loving circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Carroll Belt and Ruby Kathryn Belt; her beloved husband, James H. Lang; her son, James Francis Lang; her daughter, Mary Teresa Lang; and her sister, Trisha Wiget.
A Visitation to honor Janet’s memory will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 2300 Smithville Road, Dayton, Ohio 45420. Following the Visitation, a Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., at the Church, celebrating the grace and spirit of a truly remarkable woman. Burial will take place at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 170 N. Valley Rd., Xenia, Ohio, immediately following Mass.
Janet’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered always for her warmth, her fun-loving nature, and the many lives she touched with kindness and care. May she rest in peace.
