Janet Darlene Norfleet “JDN BOSS”

Janet Darlene Norfleet, lovingly known as “JDN BOSS,” departed this earthly life on May 24, 2026, at the age of 71, in Dayton, Ohio — the same city where her remarkable journey began on December 31, 1954.

Janet lived a life defined by strength, faith, service, and unwavering love for her family. A proud graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she devoted herself to helping others before answering an even greater call to service by enlisting in the United States Army. She served her country honorably, carrying the same courage, discipline, and determination that would guide her throughout her life.

On September 12, 1980, Janet married the love of her life, Percy Norfleet. Together they built a home grounded in faith, resilience, laughter, and deep devotion to family.

Janet possessed a spirit impossible to overlook. She was compassionate, funny, fiercely honest, and carried a warmth that made people feel both loved and protected. She believed in telling the truth plainly, loving deeply, and showing up fully for the people she cared about.

Her passions reflected the beauty of her spirit. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, daily workouts at the gym, walking her beloved Bernardo, and preparing meals that gathered family and friends around the table. Her church family held a special place in her heart, and she remained a steady source of encouragement, wisdom, and joy within her congregation.

Janet leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Percy Norfleet Jr.; her loving sons, Charles Swift, Michael Norfleet, Percy Norfleet III, Jason McClurkin, and Sterlyn Jones; Brother Mark and Kim Swift, Sister Elena and Ryan Carpenter; In-Laws Brenda Brown, Jacquline and LB Robertson, Cathy and Johnie Chattman, Tresia and Michael Hogans; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and countless individuals whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and strength.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Andre Swift; Daughter Lisa Raspberry; Granddaughter Rena Bell; Parents, Roosevelt and Charlotte May Swift; Brother Roosevelt Swift Jr.; and Sister Roberta Pemberton.

Above all, Janet’s life was anchored in her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She walked faithfully with the Lord throughout her life and now rests peacefully in His eternal embrace. Her work here is complete, her burdens laid down, and her heavenly reward received.

“Well done Mom.”

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
