Janet Sue Barnett

Janet Sue Barnett, age 82, of Bellbrook, passed away March 3, 2026. Janet was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 13, 1943 to Dorothy and Ervin Shutts.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles "Butch" Barnett; son, Ervin Scott Barnett; as well as her sisters, Ruth and Dottie.

She is survived by daughter, Laurie (Eric) Bolin; son, Mark (Sue) Stewart; brother, Ronnie Shutts; sister, Carol (Tom) Lewis; grandchildren, Rachel, Jeffery, Ben, Jennie and Evan; great-grandchildren, Cohen, Kyler, Josiah and Lucas; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Janet retired from JCPenney after 15 years. She retired early to help take care of her grandchildren. After the grandchildren got to be school age, she worked as the church custodian at Mt. Zion Church, which she did for over 10 years. Janet was a member of LifeSpring Church and cherished her church family very much. She was very involved at the church and helped in the youth activities.

In her free time, she enjoyed crafting, sewing, painting and wall-papering, gardening, gambling, bowling, decorating for holidays, spending time with family and with her dog, Bella.

Janet was very resourceful, independent and hard-working. She had a servant's heart and was always the first to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She loved her family deeply, even sewing her grandchildren's clothes and Halloween costumes. Janet was also very involved in her grandchildren's sports activities; she never missed a game.

Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek), where funeral services will begin at 1:00pm.
