Janet Lee (Gammons) Ballman, 66, of Fairborn, OH, passed away on May 17, 2018 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jan is survived by her husband of 32 years, Douglas Ballman, her two sons Travis (Miranda) Ballman and Matthew (Stephanie) Ballman, her mother Norma (Miclon) Gammons, brother Thomas (Denise) and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel W. Gammons.
Jan was born on April 14, 1952 in Plymouth, NH. The family relocated to Baltimore, MD where she graduated from high school and received her BA from the University of Maryland. Jan worked for several years in retail merchandising as a clothing and accessory buyer in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and finally in Dayton where she met Doug while they were both working at Elder-Beerman. She later worked for E.F. MacDonald Marketing/Carlson Marketing in Maple Grove, MN.
Jan was a member of the Greene County Master Gardeners with a special interest in herb study. She lived harmoniously with nature nurtured from the time she spent on Squam Lake in Holderness, NH at her grandmother's lake house. An avid reader she especially enjoyed murder mysteries. She was a wonderfully dedicated daughter/sister/wife and mother who always put her family first and embraced all aspects of her life with enthusiasm, love and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 19, 2018 at Newcomer's Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of Dayton. Also, if anyone is so inclined, she also hoped that family and friends would consider planting a Redbud tree (her favorite) in her memory to make the world a little brighter.
