Jane G. Cavey, a devoted mother, grandmother, dedicated professional, and cherished friend, passed away on June 19, 2026. Born on May 7, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, Jane’s life was marked by a deep commitment to her family, her work, and her heritage.
Jane graduated from Oakwood High School in the class of 1966 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English and history education from the University of Dayton. Her passion for education and communication led her to a distinguished career, most notably as managing editor for Interpreter Magazine, a role she held with dedication for 13 years. Following this, she contributed her talents to Kidz Again for many years, continuing her engagement with meaningful work that impacted many lives.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jane was a woman of warm heart and vibrant interests. She cherished her German heritage with pride and embraced each person’s story with an open ear and kind spirit, always willing to listen. Her love for family was evident in her devotion to her grandsons, Aiden and Wyatt, and her affection extended to her beloved dogs. Jane found joy in watching college basketball, particularly enjoying games featuring the University of Dayton, a testament to her enduring connection to her hometown.
Jane’s family celebrates her life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Tim Cavey; her daughter, Erica Curtis and son-in-law Jason; and her treasured grandsons, Aiden and Wyatt. Family ties were also an important part of Jane’s life, with meaningful bonds shared with her brother-in-law John Cavey and her best friends Mary and John McDonald.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Ewald Schemeit, whose legacy of love and strength clearly lives on through her. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, John and Rowena Cavey, whose family values shaped the close-knit community Jane cherished.
Jane G. Cavey’s life was one of quiet strength, heartfelt connection, and unwavering dedication. She will be remembered not only for her professional contributions but also for the genuine warmth and compassion she extended to family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her memory will remain a guiding light, a tribute to a life lived with grace and purpose.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and graveside service is pending.
