James Allen "Jim" Ramsey, a devoted family man and skilled machinist, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on June 26, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, Jim spent his life embracing the roles and passions that defined him with unwavering dedication and heart.

Throughout his career, Jim was a machinist who brought his expertise to a variety of companies, earning respect for his craftsmanship and work ethic. Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was known for his spirited personality—funny, stubborn at times, and always ready to share a joke. He cherished laughter and light-hearted moments, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. Jim shared his knowledge generously, mentoring his children and grandchildren in the lessons and skills of everyday life. He also enjoyed video games and was a constant, supportive presence at his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities.

Jim's greatest pride and joy came from his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren—Alyssa, James, Ashlyn, Jacob, Leanna, Aria, Zhion, and Weston—were truly his world, and he wore the title of Grandpa with immense love and pride. Family was central to Jim’s identity, reflected in the deep bonds he shared with his beloved wife, Kathy Ramsey, and his children: James (Andrea) Ramsey, Amber (Joe) Shields, and Cody (Evy) Banks. He also held close relationships with his siblings, Faye Duckson, Betty Larrison, Charlotte (Dave) Smolen, and Diana (Malen) Bailey; brothers and sisters-in-law Jim & Carol Bodish and Dale Keen; and special friends Russ and Karen Shelley, alongside many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Jim’s personal joys extended to his fondness for the Cincinnati Bengals and his cherished Harley Davidson motorcycle, both emblematic of his vibrant spirit and zest for life. He was also an animal lover who cared deeply for the many dogs he had during his lifetime, demonstrating a gentle heart beneath his strong exterior.

A visitation to honor Jim’s memory will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek..
