Listen to Obituary

James Leis, a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, was called home to the Lord, November 3, 2025, in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on October 12, 1985, James lived a life marked by hard work and dedication of his work company Tech Metals Inc., where he be became not only an employee, but a part of their family, for 6 years at the company, cherishing the moments spent on the night shift with his mentor, very close friend and a person to be inspired by (Carvail Hall).

James was known for his unwavering spirit and his enjoyment of simple pleasures. Taking car rides in his jeep that he loved dearly while listening to his music, as his speakers boomed and shook the community. (It gave him a thrill like no other). Playing his PlayStation, smoking his Maverick Menthol’s, FaceTiming his brother Kev, and spending time with his baby boys. He spent his free time immersed in the world of gaming, particularly playing Call of Duty. He found joy just being a homebody and being with his family, especially his little bestfriend (LJ).

Throughout his life, James took immense pride in his role as a father. He cherished every opportunity to capture memories with his children through photography, creating a treasure trove of moments that reflected the love he had for his family. His wife, Brittany Leis, stood by him as a partner in life, sharing in the joy of their children and the laughter that filled their home.

James, was survived by his wife Brittany Leis, his sons Zavier, Lorenzo and Amari, mother-in-law Gina, his newly adopted nieces Keira and Mia, sister in law- Cassie brother-in-law Tyler , his bonus mother Ginny, sister Cathi, step-mother Roxanne , father David , nieces, his special nephew (Max), cousins and of course many more. He was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Daugherty-Mills, brother David Leis, grandmother Ruth Mills, grandfather Kenneth Mills.

James will be remembered for his kind heart and his ability to make those around him feel valued and loved. His legacy lives on in the memories shared by his wife, Brittany, as well as Ginny, who was like a mother to him, and the countless lives he touched during his time on this earth. As we gather to remember James, we celebrate a life well lived and he conquered many things, and the love that continues to resonate within his family and the long list of friends- whom he called brothers. To his brothers he was (Jimmy Bones) James, couldn’t walk into a place without knowing someone or greeting them for the day. They shared many years of precious, exciting, adventurous memories that they will never forget and cherish forever. They stood by his side until the very end of his life, like brothers do.

At this time we have decided that we will not be holding any funeral services, instead we will be doing a celebration of life for the loss of James. He would not want us to mourn in sadness but to celebrate his life in pure happiness. Times, dates and locations will be provided at a later time.

He will truly be missed by all of his friends, family and brothers that loved him dearly. The bond will never be broken. We will mend the bond together and will continue his legacy in his name, and carry him with us in all of our hearts. We love you dearly James and will forever miss your presence with us, until we meet again my friend,

(We will see you at the crossroads)
