James Harvey Leggett Jr, 61, of Fairborn, passed at home on February 1, 2026. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on August 10, 1964. After serving 4 years (1982-1986) in the United States Army, Jim graduated from ITT Technical Institute with an associate’s degree in electronic engineering in 1991. He retired from Northrop Grumman as a contractor for NASA in 2020.

Jim enjoyed playing video games on his computer, watching old cartoons, tending to his yard, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by James Leggett Sr and grandparents.

He was survived by his wife, Nita Sanders-Leggett, parents Johnnie (King) Swann and Sydney Swann III, twin brother, John (Jackie) Leggett and brother Sydney Swann IV, sisters Maria (Tyler) Leggett and Shannon (Peter) Woodford, sons, Chris (Brittany) Ashley, Cory (Ashley) Ashley, and Anthony Leggett, daughters Veronica (Jordan) McShirley and Kathleen Leggett, granddaughters Kayden Ashley, Makaylah Espensen, Madison Ashley, and Mavis McShirley, and grandsons Cameron Ashley, Carson Ashley, and Mason Ashley, bonus daughter Andrea Stoltz and special great nephew, Bryson Delver, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of a funeral, there will be a celebration of life on March 14, 2026 at Giovanni’s in Fairborn at 1:00pm.
