James W. Kimmerly Sr.

April 14, 1923 — January 6, 2024

James W. Kimmerly Sr., known to many as "Little Jimmy", age 100, of Manchester, Ohio, passed away on January 6, 2024. He was born on April 14, 1923 to the late Samuel and Perlina Kimmerly.

He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II, and he was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of many organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Maysville, Kentucky and both the American Legion & VFW of Manchester, Ohio, where he was a past post-commander of the VFW. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

James retired from Chrysler after working there for over 30 years. When he was in his 70's, he started Clogging in his free time and was a member of the Fancy Free Cloggers of West Union, Ohio. At age 93, he auditioned for America's Got Talent with the Fancy Free Cloggers. He befriended everyone he met, and he knew just about everybody. His smile and his sense of humor will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Kimmerly; his son, Charles Kimmerly Sr.; grandchildren: Robert & Marcia Dull; and his siblings: John, Corda, Mintie, Edward, Robert, Thomas F., Bertha, Jeannie, Samuel, Ross and Charles.

He is survived by his children: James W. Kimmerly Jr. and Cheryl Dull; his sisters, Annie Frost and Sarah Parsons; his grandchildren: Charles C. Kimmerly Jr. (Kylea), Christopher Dull and Craig Dull (Denise); great-grandchildren: Curtis, Tony, Sofia and Jordan; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio.

A second set of services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W 2nd Street, Manchester, Ohio 45144. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with his funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. Following his service, he will be laid to rest with Thelma at West Union Village Cemetery.
