It is with profound sadness and deep respect that we announce the passing of James D. Sanders Sr., who left this life on April 25, 2026. Born on April 9, 1962, James was a dedicated and hardworking individual who devoted over four decades to the trucking industry. He was the proud owner and operator of Sanders Trucking from 1992 - 2009, a testament to his commitment, perseverance, and passion for his career.
James was a man of diverse interests and talents. He found joy and solace in four-wheeling and riding motorcycles, and he had a genuine love for vehicles-trucks, hotrods, and all things automotive. His hands were often busy fixing and working on cars, reflecting his practical nature and keen mechanical skills. Beyond his mechanical passions, James cherished boating, and music was an inseparable part of his life, resonating deeply with rock and roll as well as old country tunes.
A devoted family man, James treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. He placed great importance on the time shared with his loved ones, and these relationships were the cornerstone of his life. His warmth, dedication, and genuine care left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
James attended Highland Brethren in Christ Church in West Milton, Ohio. He would read his Bible daily where he found spiritual grounding. His life reflected his commitment to his faith, family, and work ethic.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy J. Sanders; son, James D. Sanders Jr., and his loving wife Tiffany; daughters Amber M. Sanders, who shares her life with Earl Sanders, and Crystal A. Strain, married to Jerry Strain. James also leaves behind four cherished granddaughters: Brooklyn D. Sorrell, Isabella M. Sanders, Arielle M. Sanders, and Rylee J. Strain; two grandsons: James D. Sanders III and Jeremiah D. Strain; and his sister Shirley A. Freeders. His nephew, Rondel D. Sanders Jr., and his wife Sarah Matheny, as well as numerous other family members and friends, also survive him, mourning the loss of a beloved patriarch and friend.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Sanders; father, James B. Sanders; brother, Rondel D. Sanders; sister, Barbara Ann Sanders, and close friend, Harry Eugene Brown. Their memories live on through the lives he touched and the family he so lovingly nurtured.
Friends and family are invited to honor James’s life at a visitation held on April 29, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Both services will take place at Highland Brethren in Christ, located at 7210 S Jay Rd, West Milton, Ohio, 45383.
James D. Sanders Sr.’s legacy is one of hard work, devotion, and heartfelt connections. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. May he rest in peace and fly as free as a bird now. To share a memory of James or leave a special message for his family, please visit the Guestbook below.
