O’Hearn, Jacqueline “Jackie” Powell, 71, of Dayton, Ohio gave her final farewell, on May 19th, 2026.
Though a gentle soul, she did not go easily, showing enormous will to stay in form with those she loved.
Born June 17th, 1954 to Wood Powell and Rosie Messer. Jackie was fiercely independent, leaving home at just 16, joining Job Corps and making her own way. She went on to be a self-taught bookkeeper and successful business owner, while remaining a devoted wife and mother.
She had many interests, was a voracious reader, avid cook, rarely needed a recipe, called on often to cater family events. Curious and youthful, she made time to pour herself into others. She was funny and forgiving, the former especially with her grandkids.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, her first grandson Karll A. Williams, as well as many other family and friends. Karll was a great source of meaning and strength to Jackie both by his impact during his life and his life saving legacy through organ donation.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Michael “Mike” Robert O’Hearn, daughters Karla Rose Powell and Sarah Jean O’Hearn. Grandchildren James R. Williams, Darean R. Wiliams, Mikayla J. Williams (children of K. Powell), Dillon M. Cahill (son of Christopher “Chris” Cahill), Avery B. O’Hearn and Cole R. O’Hearn (sons of S. O’Hearn & C. Cahill). Her legacy extends to her great-grandchildren Rylee (son of K. Williams) and Arya (daughter of D. Williams) Williams. Her brothers and sisters, Betty Powell, Robert “Bob” Powell, Frank Powell and Beulah West provided endless strength and support to Jackie, their baby sister. As well as, her many in-laws (some outlaws), countless nieces and nephews who she cherished and cared for as her own, entrusting the same to their parents with her daughters.
Her generosity even in death, she was a registered donor. A loyal, caring, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend; she will be remembered by many, her spirit lives on, forever.
“The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.”
