Listen to Obituary

Jacob David Bowlin “Jay”, 41, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on April 5, 2026. He was born on November 8, 1984, in Dayton, where he was raised and spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the city he called home.

Jay was the beloved son of Corinna Ellis and Virgil Bowlin Sr., and a devoted brother to Virgil Bowlin Jr., Michael Bowlin, and David (Brittany) Ellis, Adam Bowlin, Autumn Bowlin. He was a proud cousin to Courtney, Caleb, Taylor, Thomas, Tiffany, and Jeremy, and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by grandparents, Jewel Dentamore, And Nedd Bowlin, Brother, Armen Ellis. Jay also had countless friends who he considered family, and he made sure they always knew they were loved.

Jay lived life with intensity and heart. He loved fishing—even if luck wasn’t always on his side—and found joy in the thrill of the moment, whether through amateur fighting or chasing adrenaline wherever he could find it. He had a deep love for music and an even deeper love for his family. No matter where life took him, Jay always made it a point to show up for the people he cared about.

He was known for his strong personality—funny, tough, and stubborn—but those closest to him knew the kindness and softness that lived beneath the surface. Jay was fiercely protective, a true defender of his family, and would go to any length to keep his loved ones safe. That loyalty and love defined who he was.

Jay also faced struggles throughout his life and battled personal demons, including periods of incarceration. These challenges were part of his journey, but they never defined his capacity to love, to protect, and to connect with others. He remained, at his core, someone who cared deeply for those around him.

Jay will be remembered for his strength, his laughter, his loyalty, and the way he loved his family without hesitation. His presence will be deeply missed, but the impact he made on those who knew him will never be forgotten.
