Jackson Edwards III

Jackson Edwards III, age 75, of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away at Trinity Community in Fairborn, Ohio, on September 4, 2026. Jackson was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on April 3, 1951 to the late Jackson II and Joan Edwards.

Jackson was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sarah Edwards Ross.

He is survived by wife, Kay Edwards; daughter, Hannah Louise Edwards; son, Jackson Lane Edwards IV; grandchildren, Emmeline Nymphe Kay Devacht, Jackson Lane "Cinco" Edwards V, Roxie Evans Edwards and Sonny Mac Edwards; as well as his sister, Hannah Edwards.

Jackson graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School in Florida.

His pride, joy and happy times were tending to his 5-acre plant nursery in Coral Springs, Florida. He was a true visionary - someone who could look at an empty space and imagine all of the beauty and possibility it could hold. No where was that gift more evident than in the beautiful nursery he created. His deep love of nature could be seen in everything he grew. The nursery became a reflection of his determination and remarkable ability to bring his visions to life.

Jackson was very gifted when it came to understanding the importance of our balanced connection to nature, even the small things that others didn't notice. He was fearless and a powerful advocate.

Jackson loved the Caribbean, Belize being his favorite country where he acquired many friends.

Above all, he was a devoted father, who gave us memories that shaped our lives- including the years he spent as a basketball coach, teaching not only how to play the game but also about teamwork, perseverance and believing in ourselves. His vision, humor, love of nature will remain forever woven into who we are.

He was also without question, the funniest person we knew. His quick wit, unforgettable sense of humor and ability to make people laugh brought joy wherever he went. He filled our lives with stories and laughter that we will continue to repeat and treasure for years to come.

The world lost a hell of a brain.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
