John Walter "Jack" Brankamp, age 71 of Huber Heights, passed away May 18, 2018. He was born November 19, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Walter and Marjorie Brankamp. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, John Edward Brankamp; first wife, Linda Brankamp; brother and sister-in-law, William and Geraldine Brankamp; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Steimle.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sandy Brankamp; daughter, Jennifer (Bryon) Reynolds; step-children: Lori (Chris) Herrfurth, Lisa (Rodney) Carlson and Matthew (Nichole) Bruce; grandchildren: Jordan, Logan, Maddie, Zachary, Natalie, Rachel, Carson, Austin and Xander; sisters: Connie (Joe) Litcher and Patricia Steimle; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Vietnam War. He was employed with the Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce. He was a life member of the VFW Post # 3283, where he held the position of All State Commander from 2003-2005, as well as several other positions. He was Seam Squirrel in the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 83. In 2009 he was named Quartermaster of the VFW until the present time. Jack was very involved with the Young Marines, the Chamber of Commerce and numerous other community organizations.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Burial and military honors will follow at Dayton National Cemetery at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the Miami Valley Young Marines, 6161 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights, Ohio 45424 or to the VFW Post # 3283, 5074 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights, Ohio 45424.
