Irma Low, a cherished matriarch and the unwavering glue that held her family together, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Huber Heights, Ohio. Born on August 13, 1939, in Germany, Irma was a remarkable woman who lived with fierce independence, a warm heart, and a spirit that never knew a stranger.

Irma’s life was marked by dedication and hard work. She served many years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base AAFES before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and integrity. Beyond her career, Irma was known for her spirited personality—impatient when needed, direct with what she said, and always social. She was the very definition of the family matriarch: generous yet frugal, loving, and the one everyone turned to in times of joy or hardship.

Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, love, and the delightful aromas of her cooking, a passion she cherished deeply. Whether playing cards or BINGO, Irma embraced life with enthusiasm. She shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Molly, who brought her comfort and companionship through the years. But above all, her greatest joy was her family—her children and grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart.

Irma is lovingly remembered by her devoted children: Charlie Low and his spouse Victor, Tom Low and his spouse Leslie, and Sandra Caldwell and her spouse Lionel. Her legacy lives strongly through her seven grandchildren: Melissa, Jennifer, Alex, Chris, Steven, Nick, and Kayla, as well as numerous great-grandchildren who will carry forward the warmth and strength she instilled in them. She is also survived by her brothers, Kurt Struzyna and his spouse Heidi and Werner Struzyna and his spouse Alfreda, along with a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by her spirit.

Irma’s journey in this world was preceded by those she held dear: her beloved parents, Josef and Anna Struzyna; her dear husband, Charles Low; and her siblings, Erik and Veronica. Though they have passed on, their memory and love were a foundation upon which Irma built her own extraordinary family.

Irma's story is one of resilience, love, and unwavering strength. She was a woman who made a difference through the simple yet profound acts of caring and leadership. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her impact will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. As family and friends gather to celebrate her life, they hold close the memory of a woman who, quite simply, was the heart and soul of all she loved.

Private services will be held for the family and Irma will be laid to rest with her husband at Dayton National Cemetery.
