Irene Stephens
November 25, 1929 — April 11, 2017
Irene "Renie" Stephens, 87, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017. Irene was born in Bath County, Kentucky on September 25, 1929 to the late Bert and Mary (Clark) Stephens.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn Sams, Lucille Reid, Louis Stephens, George Gould Stephens; and her niece, Brenda (Stephens) Thompson.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Judy "Huck" (Danny Ray) Townsend, Jan Walden, Zoe (Mike) Garrison, Robert (Connie) Stephens, Bert Allen (Paula) Stephens, Edward Reid, Charlie Stephens, Phillip Stephens, Donnie Stephens, Doug Stephens, Marie Stephens, Paulette Wells; special friends, Pat Fast, Sandra Walters, Anita Ruppert, Tawnya Lambert, Lodia Furnas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Irene worked at Standard Register for over 40 years. During retirement Irene spent time volunteering, listening to Bluegrass/Gospel music and traveling. She was an avid bowler, a Cincinnati Reds "Rosie Red" and a lifelong UK Wildcats fan.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, where funeral services will begin at 1:30 pm with Pastor Jeff Cartwright officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in memory of Irene to New Hope UMC, P.O. Box 1402, Dayton, Ohio 45401.
