Ian Wallace Petroski, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 9, 2026, in his birthplace of Dayton, Ohio. Born on January 7, 2003, Ian lived a life marked by warmth, joy, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His presence illuminated every gathering, as he was known for his loving and goofy spirit, truly the life of the party. Ian’s personality was one that poured life into his friends and family, creating lasting memories and cherished moments.
From his early years in Dayton, Ian embraced life with enthusiasm and a passion for riding his motorcycle, a pastime that gave him great freedom and joy. Those close to him knew his playful nature alongside a heart deeply committed to those around him. His love extended beyond social circles, as he generously chose to be an organ donor, offering the invaluable gift of life to others.
Ian’s family was central to his world. He is survived by his devoted parents, Walter, Jr. and Jowana Petroski, who nurtured his growth and spirit. He shared a special bond with his siblings—Dustin Wells, Sydney Petroski, and Dylan Petroski—as well as his nephews, Bryce Wells and Reece Jones, who brought additional happiness into his life. Ian was also loved by his maternal grandmother, Edith Jackson, and held a close connection with his aunt Kay Ashmore and uncle Eddie (Bev) Wyrick, along with many cousins, dear family members, and friends who remain forever grateful for his joyful presence.
Ian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carol Petroski and Walter Petroski, Sr., and his maternal grandfather, Jim Wyrick, as well as his aunt and uncle, Joy Evans and Jimmy Wyrick, Jr. Their memories continue to live on in the hearts of his family.
Ian Wallace Petroski’s life, though tragically brief, was rich with laughter, love, and generosity. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and vitality that will forever inspire those who were fortunate to know him. His spirit will continue to live on vividly in the hearts of his family and friends, who cherish the countless moments he filled with love and laughter.
