Herbert H. Stallard

February 19, 1930 — October 31, 2019

Herbert "Herb" H. Stallard, 89, of New Carlisle, passed away on October 31, 2019, at Soin Medical Center. He was born on February 19, 1930, to Walter D. and Minerva (Hatfield) Stallard as 1 of 12 children in Pike County, KY. He grew up in Williamson, WV and attended Marshall University.

On October 30, 1955, he married Della A. Stallard (McBrayer) in Williamson, WV. Herbert and Della made New Carlisle, OH their home in 1961 where they raised 5 children.

Herbert is survived by his loving Wife, Della. They were married for 64 years plus 1 day. Children are Nita Stallard of Atlanta, GA; Ginger (Bob) Otto of Port Charlotte, FL; Cindy (Mark) Wheeler of Fairborn, OH; Steve (Carla) Stallard of Huber Heights, OH; and Andrew (Penny) Stallard of Tipp City, OH. Grandchildren are Joshua, Jeremy, Morgan (Josh), Cameron, Nick (Ashley), Tiana, and Ryan; Great Grandson, Jameson (Josh and Morgan Huber), due in December; Siblings, Bernard (Orrin) Stallard, Mabel (Tom) Dague, Ruthie (Carl) Bevins, and Ronnie Stallard; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

In his career, Herbert worked as an Apprentice for Williamson Daily News as a Typesetter and Reporter. He came to the Dayton area in January of 1961, as a Journeyman Typesetter with Dayton Daily News. He went on to manage an independent typesetting firm as the Lead Typesetter for several publications including western fiction and non-fiction. During that same time, Herb and Della may be remembered for owning and managing Herdel's, a popular bakery & donut shop in the New Carlisle area. Herb later became Head Custodian for Tecumseh Local Schools until he retired in 1995. After retirement, he worked as a volunteer at Wright-Patterson AFB for almost 20 years. He was proud of his country and greatly appreciated the sacrifice of military personnel and their families.

Herb was preceded in death by his Parents, Walter D. and Minerva Stallard; Siblings, Walter, Jr. (Ruth) Stallard, Doug (Francis) Stallard, Glen (Nancy) Stallard, Howard (Mae) Stallard, Clemmie (Jerry) Pohl, Ollie (Marvin) Scott, and Iris (Truman) Gooslin; and Joan Stallard, Wife of Ronnie Stallard.

Herbert never knew a stranger and loved everyone. He loved his family more than anything. Herb was a Christian man and was the best example of high moral values and a perfect role model for his family. He coached Little League for several years. He and Della taught Sunday School at Park Layne United Methodist church for several years, as well.

Herb made an impact on many lives and believed he and his family were blessed in so many ways, citing many times "They were the circle of love." Family was his most important hobby, and he loved creating memories with them. To celebrate his love for Della, he joyfully bought two yellow roses for her on every anniversary for 64 years.
