Henry L. Shearill, age 78, died Sunday night, April 10th, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Belzonia, Mississippi, he was the son of late Henry Shearill Sr. and Octavia (Gray) Moore.
He completed his high school education in Jackson, MS and entered the U.S. Army following graduation. While in the military he traveled extensively and was awarded various accolades including achieving the rank of Master Sergeant over the course of his military career. After 30 years of military service, he went on to dedicate 15 years as a veteran specialist at the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services until his retirement. He was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist, the Dayton Spur Club and various other organizations.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Dayton, OH on Friday, April 15th, 2016 at 1 pm with visitation prior to the service from 12 to 1 pm. Burial will be held at the Dayton National Cemetery on Monday, April 18th at 2pm.
