Harvey Glenn Starling, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 3, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Harvey lived a full life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a quick, memorable sense of humor. Throughout his life, he worked in several careers. He spent many years as a delivery driver, and he was especially known for his passion for commercial painting. He lived life with a carefree spirit, and he and never met a stranger. He had a funny nature and a great sense of humor that brought joy to the people around him, and above all, he loved his family.

He also served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. His service was an important part of his life and reflected his steady and dependable character. He was fiercely patriotic.

Harvey found happiness in simple and meaningful pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, and spending time with his family. He was a loyal fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and that enthusiasm added to the many everyday moments of enjoyment he shared with those around him.

He is survived by his children: Malinda Quattlebaum, Wayne (Cherie) Starling, John (Tracey) Starling, Skyler (Heather) Starling, and three stepsons: Adam, Brady, and Cody. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Richard) Glasscock; his sister-in-law, Carole Starling; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. His live-in companion and dear friend, Edith Uhl, was a supportive confidant in his last few years. The love of his family was central to his life, and his memory will remain close to all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla Starling; his father, John Starling; his mother, Geneva Comer, and his brothers, Rodney Starling and Donald Starling.

Harvey will be remembered with love for his kindness, his humor, his hardworking spirit, and the love he had for his family throughout his life. His presence will be dearly missed, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Harvey’s Life will be held by the family in the coming weeks.
