Harold W. Shaffer

Shaffer, Harold W. "Bill", 82, of Huber Heights, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 after a sudden illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold A. and Cora Shaffer, and sister, Wilma Duncan.
Harold graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute, Flint, MI. He was employed for many years at Delco Moraine/GM until his retirement.
Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Boggess) Shaffer, his daughters, Tyra Valenzuela-Ray, Lori Ritchey-Baldwin and husband, Roger Baldwin; his son, Thomas and wife, Deborah; beloved grandchildren, Jon Ritchey, Rachael and husband, Will Bodeen, Zachary and Joseph Ray, Michelle, Emily, and Jacob Shaffer, Megan and Morgan Baldwin, and his grandson and best friend, Christopher Ritchey; and great grandson, Benjamin Bodeen; and his sister, Jeanette Koch and husband, Robert. Harold was a longtime resident of Huber Heights where he was involved in many activities with his children and grandchildren.
Harold was also a foster parent to ten children. Harold was a wonderful father and grandfather. His wisdom, strength and morale in the face of adversity was an inspiration and example to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation in his name.
