Harold H. Ross, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 88. Born on September 19, 1936, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Harold’s life was defined by his dedication to family, service, and his knack for storytelling.

Harold served with honor in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, before transitioning to a fulfilling career in civil service as a maintenance technician at Liquid Fuels System, where he dedicated another 20 years. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his dual careers, contributing significantly to his community and country.

Known for his humorous spirit and generous heart, Harold was a source of joy and laughter in the lives of those around him. Family gatherings were often animated by his wild stories and infamous potato salad, a dish that became a favorite among his loved ones, who would readily engage in good-natured disputes over its last spoonful.

Harold's interests were varied and vibrant; he had a passion for sports, particularly football, baseball, NASCAR, and golf. His love for his dog, Jake, was also a testament to his caring nature. He was skilled with his hands, often building and creating things that reflected his creativity and ingenuity.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Mark (Sharon) Ross, Kathy Brown, and Sandy (Doug) Scherbauer; grandchildren, Ashley Ross, Joshua Ross, and Garrett (Meaghan) Brown; and great-grandchildren, Bella Ross, Makenna Ross, and Stella Brown. Harold cherished time spent with them, which brought immense joy and fulfillment to his life. He was also survived by his siblings, Nancy Austin, Tom Ross, and Roger Ross; and many other relatives and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Dorothy Ross, parents, Glenn and Effie Ross, as well as his siblings, Delores George, Evelyn Cartwright, Betty Davidson, and Floyd Ross.

The legacy of Harold H. Ross will live on through the many lives he touched and the fond memories shared by family and friends. His spirit of kindness, humor, and love will be missed, but never forgotten.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 12:30-1:30pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424. The service will follow at 1:30pm. Harold will be laid to rest at Willow View Cemetery.
