Listen to Obituary

Harold Edward Adams, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on June 12, 1936, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Harold lived a full and remarkable life marked by dedication, humor, and an unyielding love for those close to him.

Harold’s early years were rooted in Lewistown, where he graduated from Lewistown High School in the Class of 1954. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Minot State University, laying the foundation for a career defined by service and commitment. His military journey began with involvement in the National Guard during high school, followed by four years in the Navy. He retired in 1978 from the United States Air Force in Minot, North Dakota, leaving behind a legacy of honor and devotion to his country.

Known for his sweet and funny nature, Harold was an unpredictable conversationalist with a quick wit and a warmth that made him a true social butterfly. His welcoming spirit and ability to find the good in everyone made him a friend to many. He was very humble and down to earth, qualities that endeared him to those fortunate enough to know him personally. Among the many facets of his personality was a memorable sense of humor that often reflected his straightforward and candid approach to life; Harold liked his women like he liked his coffee: black and hot.

For 24 years, from February to June, Harold cherished spending time in Biloxi, Mississippi, with his dear friends Roger and Bev Berry. These moments were filled with laughter and camaraderie, reflecting his deep appreciation for friendship and connection. An avid golfer and enthusiastic participant in bowling and softball, Harold also found joy in daily visits to the casino with Roger, where they would share stories and talk about everything from the weather to the price of gas and what they had to eat. Word search puzzles and reading were among his favored pastimes, and he was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dayton Dragons, passionately following their games and celebrating their victories.

Harold’s proudest accomplishments were his family, especially his grandchildren, Samantha Nutter and Collin Nutter, and his great-grandson Colton Miller. Their presence brought him immense pride and joy throughout his life. He shared a loving family with his children Darrell (Pam) Adams, Shirlene Adams, and Sharina (Jeff) Feairheller. His companion, Jeanie Albert, his siblings Richard Adams, William (Al Bergum) Adams, Paul Adams, Edith Price, Dorothy Laughman, Donna Guthridge and special family friend, Lisa Hamilton also stood by his side, along with many other family members and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lillian Adams; his wife, Joyce; his brother, Bob Adams; and his great-grandson, Carson Russell Coomer. Their memories live on in the hearts of those they touched and in the legacy Harold leaves behind.

The community mourns the loss of a man whose life embodied loyalty, humor, and love. Harold will be remembered not only for his military service and spirited personality but also for the genuine kindness and humility with which he approached life every day. His enduring warmth and joyful spirit remain a shining example to all who had the privilege to know him.
