Harley David Allen, age 88, passed away peacefully April 14, 2026. It was his 65th wedding anniversary.

Born on September 25, 1937, in Blackshear, Georgia, Harley was the son of Frank and Julia Allen, but he spent most of his life in southern Ohio, where he built a life rooted in family.

Harley was a proud United States Navy veteran, D.E.S.C. retiree and a lifelong steam engine enthusiast. He was also a wonderful storyteller, a dedicated coffee drinker and a man known for his honesty and generous heart. He had a habit of carrying two-dollar bills, which he would hand out to anyone caught performing a random act of kindness—a small gesture that left a lasting impression on many.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brady M. Allen.

Harley is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Allen; his daughter, Cynthia Ann (Allen) Schector; his cherished granddaughters, Katherine Riley Glazier, Marliana Skye Allen and Violet Annabelle Allen; and his namesake great-grandson, Conall Harley Day.

To his wife, Harley was her rock. To his daughter, he seemed larger than life. To his granddaughters and great-grandson, he was a loving Papa and Pop-Pop who made the best chocolate malts.

As a family, we promise to “stay sweet for you.”
