Greg Martin Trecaso, a dedicated long-distance semi-truck driver and an avid lover of travel and history, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on April 22, 1954, Greg's journey through life was marked by countless miles driven, relationships forged, and a passion for exploration that spanned the breadth of the United States.
A proud graduate of Fairmont West High School, Greg spent over 40 years on the open road, expertly navigating the challenges and joys of being a long-haul trucker. His career allowed him to travel to all but one state in the nation, instilling in him an appreciation for diverse landscapes and cultures, with a special fondness for South Dakota's beauty. His warmth and fondness for classic trucks mirrored his character: sturdy, reliable, and driven by a love for adventure.
Outside of work, Greg was known for his engaging personality and his wide-ranging interests. He had a particular affinity for NASCAR, often found cheering at the Daytona 500, celebrating family gatherings and cookouts, and relishing the moments spent with loved ones. Greg’s affection for the outdoors was heightened by his love of warm weather, often drawn to the beaches of Texas and Florida where he made many cherished memories.
Greg was not just a truck driver; he was also a history buff with a profound love for American history. This curiosity fueled his passion for reading, as he enjoyed delving into various subjects through the pages of countless books. He is survived by his devoted sister, Lezlie A. (Mark) Gillespie; his nephew, Jack (Madison) Gillespie; his niece, Julianne Gillespie; and two great-nieces, Logan Gillespie and Lane Gillespie. Greg is also survived by numerous family and friends who will forever cherish their memories of him.
Preceding him in death were his beloved mother, Joanne Pauline Trecaso, and father, Paul G. Trecaso.
Greg Martin Trecaso leaves behind a legacy defined by his love of travel, family connections, and lifelong learning. His spirit will continue to resonate with those who knew him, reminding us of the importance of living fully, exploring fervently, and nurturing our connections with one another.
