Gordon R. Brown, a longtime resident of Ohio known for his honesty, warmth, and dedication to family and community, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Miamisburg, Ohio. Born on September 14, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, Gordon’s life was marked by steady commitment, both to his work and to those he loved.

A graduate of Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio, Gordon pursued a career that reflected his sociable and straightforward nature. He worked in the water softener business for many years, complemented by roles as a cashier and a life insurance salesman, he demonstrated a genuine joy in working with people. Those who knew him appreciated his unwavering truthfulness and honesty, traits that earned him respect in both his professional and personal interactions.

Outside of work, Gordon enjoyed a variety of pastimes that gave him considerable pleasure and relaxation. He was an avid lawn mower and spent much of his free time cruising on car rides. His loyalty to sports teams was evident in his enthusiastic support for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Gordon also found comfort and inspiration in religious programming, including shows hosted by Joel Osteen, and enjoyed the classic appeal of Westerns. These interests portrayed a man content with simple pleasures and grounded in his faith and values.

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda (West) Brown; his son, Rick (Pam) Brown; step-daughters, Kathy (Jim) and Jennifer (Jeremy); step-son, Jack (Jennifer); along with many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. His life was enriched by a wide circle of extended family members and friends who admired his generous spirit and steadfast integrity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Brown and Magdalene (Wark) Carolus; his brother William Brown, Jr.; as well as his son, Jeff and daughter, Cindy.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 11:00AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel. Family and friends may visit from 10:00AM until the time of service. Gordon will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Gordon R. Brown’s legacy is one of honesty, devotion to family, and a gentle appreciation for life’s simple moments. His memory will be deeply cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.
