Goldie “Laverne” Golden, (née Caudill), age 89 passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026 at Vienna Springs Health Campus in Dayton Ohio. She was born on May 2, 1937 in Riceville Kentucky.
She graduated from Oil Springs High School in Johnson County Kentucky, then from Mayo State Vocational School in Paintsville, Kentucky where she trained to be a secretary. She moved to Ohio where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Golden on April 1, 1960. Together they raised their three sons Tommy, Clint and Paul. They devoted themselves to their family and to serve the Lord through Moraine Heights Baptist Church in Moraine, Ohio, Tom eventually as the chairman of the Deacons and Laverne as secretary.
Laverne loved gardening, cross stitch, sewing, reading, jigsaw puzzles and baking. Tom and Laverne worked the daily crossword in the paper together.
Laverne faced a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease with grace. She is whole again and with her Lord.
She is survived by her sons Tom (Cindy) Golden, Clint Golden, Paul (Bobbie) Golden; 3 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, brothers Ben (Neva) and Dan (Janie) Caudill; sister Wilma Ward; and sister-in-law Margie Nevins. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, parents Roy and Eva Caudill; brothers Lowell and Emory Caudill; sister, Lois Beimly; brothers-in-law Danny Ward, Bill Golden and Doug Beimly; sisters-in-law Lois Golden, Ella Mae and Christine Caudill, and grandson Alex Golden.
Special thanks for the care given to Goldie from Christina Fisher and the entire staff at Vienna Springs Health Campus.
A Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00pm on Friday, August 7th, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel located at 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, Ohio 45439. The Funeral Service will be officiated by Brother Patrick Dell’Aria.
Laverne will be laid to rest with Tom at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moraine Heights Baptist Church or Hospice of Dayton.
