Gloria L. Phillips (Alsop) went to be with her Lord, surrounded by love, on November 6th, 2025, at the age of 82.
She lived a life marked by the love of her God, her family and others. She was born on November 10th, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to Roscoe and Hazel Alsop.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 64 years, Thomas C. Phillips.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara (Phillip) Sowders of Fairborn; son, Kenneth (Kimberly) Phillips of Dayton; granddaughter, Ashley (Daniel) Thieman; grandson, Matthew (Staci) Sowders; granddaughter, Kayleigh Phillips; great-grandson, Grant Thieman; great-granddaughter, Ariana Thieman; along with many other beloved family and friends.
Gloria lived her whole life in the Dayton area and attended Belmont High School.
She was a lover of history, antiques and the stories they represented. Gloria, in high school, was a part of the TV show Rising Generation on WHIO in the 1950’s and occasionally spoke of those times. She learned the love of antiques from her uncle, John Alsop and carried that passion throughout the rest of her life. Gloria had several antique shops in Waynesville and surrounding areas, attended numerous antique shows and along with her business partner, Dotty Webber, conducted many estate sales during the 1980’s and 90’s. Also, she was a notable antiques appraiser utilized by many area attorneys and Wright Patterson Air Force Base when needed. She had been a featured appraiser and speaker for several local charitable events and historical societies.
Gloria loved to talk and treated everyone like she had known them for years. In her later years, she loved the visits from church family and friends. Gloria’s kindness and support touched the lives of many, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who remember her.
