Glenna Rae Daugherty, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026. Born on May 19, 1948, in Hamilton, Ohio, Glenna’s life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and service to others.
A graduate of Franklin High School, Glenna began her career as a Key Punch Operator at Frigidaire, where she met the love of her life, Loren William Daugherty. They shared 53 wonderful years of marriage until Loren’s passing. Cherishing family above all else, Glenna left her position at Frigidaire to raise their two daughters, instilling in them the very values she held dear.
Her commitment to community and service extended beyond her home. She later joined Kettering Health Network, contributing in various departments including the Credit Union and Community Wellness. Her work was marked not just by diligence but by a genuine care for those around her. Upon retirement, she chose to dedicate her time fully to her grandchildren, embracing her role as a grandmother with immense joy.
Glenna was deeply rooted in her faith. She lovingly led the Pioneer Girls Program at Kettering Assembly of God and sang in a trio at church, using her voice to uplift and inspire. Her active involvement in church ministries was a reflection of her passion for sharing the message of Jesus and nurturing the spiritual growth of others.
Known for her warmth and generosity, Glenna found happiness in simple pleasures - gardening vibrant flowers and vegetables, canning and preserving the fruits of her labor, and creating a welcoming home filled with love and care. To be a mom and a grandma was her greatest joy; her nurturing spirit touched every life she encountered.
She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her legacy forward: her daughters Karen (Kevin) Poindexter and Cheryl (Doug) McKee; her brother Gary (Anna) Murphy; her brother-in-law Joe (Sandy) Daugherty; seven grandchildren-Meganmarie, Sophie, Andrew, Wyatt, Carly, and Jacob-and a great-grandchild, Aiden. Her life was also enriched by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her with fondness and love.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Loren William Daugherty, and her cherished parents, Ralph and Elsie Murphy.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on June 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. A funeral service celebrating Glenna’s life will be held on June 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at the same location.
Glenna Rae Daugherty’s life was a bright light - a beacon of love, faith, and kindness that touched all who knew her. As we say goodbye, we hold close the memories of her gentle spirit, her boundless giving, and the deep, enduring love she so freely shared. She will be forever missed and forever cherished.
