Glen E. Ray

Glen Edward Ray, formerly of Xenia, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016.He was born in Wilmington, Ohio on September 12, 1931. Glen graduated from Fairborn High School. He worked as a machine operator in various companies, eventually retiring from Delco Products. After retirement, Glen became a bus driver for the MRDD and said that it was the best job he ever had.

His many talents included woodworking, fixing things, encouraging, and helping others. In his early years, he played baseball and basketball, sports he loved from an early age. He had a big heart and gave to so many. He was a very hard worker and always strove to do his best no matter the cost.
He married Shirley Blair on September 16, 1955 and she was the love of his life. They were quite a team, Shirley the artist and Glen doing the matting and framing.

He was a wonderful father and loved his family. He took time with his children and participated in all of their activities. He cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never wanted to miss a ball game, birthday party, school or church event. He loved people and had several long-time friends from childhood that he saw on a regular basis. He lived at Wright Place Apartments, knew most of the residents, participated in the vesper services and attended weekly prayer meetings. Glen loved the Lord Jesus and attended First Church of Christ in Xenia, Ohio. He put God first in all he did. His children all came to faith following his example.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard Everett and Grace Ray; one daughter, Angela Jean Ray. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Ray, of 60 years; daughter, Grace LeAnn Hill (Ed); son, Christopher Ray (Diana); son, Daniel Ray (Marie). Also, grandchildren, John Hill (Rebekah); Aaron Hill (Aimee); Chris Hill (Cassie); Timothy Hill; Stephanie Clelland (Lucas); Benjamin Ray (Carrie), TJ Ray (Mallory); Elyssa Garcia (Isaiah), Zachary Ray (Morgan); Elora Ray and 16 great grandchildren. Sister, Ellie Mae Gaines (Lee); Brother, Ernie Ray (Winnie). Brother-in-law, Clarence Blair (Janice). Numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation for Glen will be at First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, Ohio 5:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2016. Funeral services will be held at First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, Ohio 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 15, 2016.
