Gladys Murphy

Gladys Murphy, passed away peacefully in Dayton, Ohio, on July 23, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on February 10, 1930, in Ashland, Kentucky.

Gladys retired from Dayton Public Schools where she touched the lives of numerous students and colleagues.

A devoted mother, Gladys proudly raised five children, three of which survived her: Steve (Keli) Murphy, Dori Ryan, and James Murphy. She was also cherished as a grandmother by Amy Ryan, who brought great joy to her life. Family meant everything to Gladys, and she found immeasurable fulfillment in nurturing her loved ones.

Gladys was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Drexel. Her spirit was enriched by the calming practice of crocheting, a hobby that provided her with both peace and creative expression.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Murphy, her sons, John Murphy and Michael Murphy, and her parents, Boone and Dora Hatcher.

As we remember Gladys Murphy, let us celebrate her life of service, love, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 10am at Valley View Memorial Gardens where Gladys will be laid to rest.
