Gilbert Earl Stuber, Jr, passed away on February 19, 2026, the age of 83. Born on February 28, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, Gil dedicated his life to his multiple passions, including a long and fulfilling career, cherished family relationships, and active involvement in community projects.
A proud alumnus of Fairview High School, Gil graduated with the class of 1960. He furthered his education at The Ohio State University and finishing at Wright State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1969 in Physics. His professional journey included significant roles at Monsanto, Modcomp and Concurrent Commuter Company, as well as time spent as an independent contractor.
Gil's innate curiosity and love for learning also extended into his personal pursuits. He demonstrated remarkable passion for technology, particularly in working on and building computers. His fascination with aviation was evident through earning a polite licenses and his involvement in the restoration of a Ford Tri-Motor Airplane, showcasing his commitment to preserving historical aircraft. Gil also had a deep love for flying, which enriched his life in profound ways.
He was a devoted family man who took immense pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married his beloved wife, Alice Ann (Drake) Stuber, on August 29, 1964, a partnership that lasted over six decades. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their children: Lucinda Louise (Stuber) Greenwald, Gilbert Edward Stuber, Adam Joseph (Katie) Stuber, and Matthew Carl (Kim) Stuber. Gil was especially proud of his grandbabies: Marina Blake Greenwald, Hannah Nichole Morrison, Gotham Lexington Oliver Stuber, Amelia Lorraine Greenwald, Xavier Joseph Lopez Stuber, Eva Elizabeth Greenwald, and great-grandchild, Ronin Adrian Morrison. He cherished every moment spent with them, often ensuring they enjoyed special times together filled with love and laughter.
Throughout his life, Gil exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, particularly in his later years as he bravely battled Parkinson's disease. He faced his challenges with unwavering fortitude, never allowing his condition to define him or dampen his spirit. Gil actively participated in research studies for Parkinson's disease, reflecting his commitment to contributing to greater awareness and understanding of the condition.
Gil is survived by his wife Alice, children Lucinda, Gilbert, Adam, and Matthew, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, as well as his brother-n-law, Roger Dieringer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Marie (Dempster) Stuber, father, Gilbert Earl Stuber, Sr., and sister, Roberta Helen (Stuber) Dieringer.
A visitation will be held in his honor on March 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville, located at 820 Miamisburg Centerville Rd, Dayton, OH 45459, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM at the same location. The service will be live streamed.
Gilbert Earl Stuber, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and resilience, making a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.
