Gerald R. Zech "Jerry"

December 7, 1932 — July 25, 2025

West Carrollton

Gerald R. Zech, known affectionately as Jerry, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Miamisburg, Ohio, where he was born on December 7, 1932. He was surrounded by family and friends who cherished him deeply.

Jerry was a proud Air Force veteran who served honorably during the Korean War. His dedication to service extended far beyond his military commitment, as he spent many fulfilling years working at Oberer Companies. A Springboro High School graduate, Jerry carried the spirit of learning and community throughout his life.

In addition to his professional life, Jerry formed lasting memories playing euchre every Tuesday and Thursday morning with his card-playing family—a tradition that brought him joy and connection. He was also an avid supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes, passionately cheering for his team and sharing in the exhilarating triumphs of college football.

Jerry was actively involved with the West Carrollton and Moraine Senior Citizens Centers, embracing the friendships and camaraderie they provided. His laughter, stories, and warmth will resonate long after his departure.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Ruth Ann Zech; his daughters, Jerri Ann Zink, Dea Clark, and Christie (Jeff) Crompton; and his son, Eric (Eileen) Zech. Jerry was a proud grandfather to Tad Zink, Tobie Cook, Elaine Ashcraft, Elliott Zech, Elizabeth Zech, Ryan Zech, and Adam Zech, as well as a great-grandfather to numerous great-grandchildren. They will forever hold his legacy close to their hearts.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ray E. and Edith Zech; his sister, Martha Cable; his brother, Robert "Bob" Zech; and his beloved granddaughter, Erika Ashcraft.

As we remember Jerry, we honor a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hospice of Dayton, for their compassionate care towards Jerry.

To honor Jerry’s wishes, there will be no public services.
