Spinks, Gerald R. "Jerry" age 92, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on October 4, 2018 at 4:38 PM at the Dayton Veteran's Administration Hospice.
He was born July 9, 1926 in Blanchester, Ohio, the son of the late Hartman and Evelyn (Garrison) Spinks. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy, participating in the Pacific theater (1943 to 1946). Gerald was instrumental in starting the Kettering Evangelical Mennonite church and served as pastor from 1958 to 1967. He retired from Delco Moraine/GM after many years of service.
In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his son, Mark Spinks; his daughter, Sharon Spinks; his brothers, Richard U. Spinks, Herman S. Spinks, John C. Spinks; and his sister, Beatrice (Spinks) Macy. Gerald is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, John and Ellen (Murphy) Spinks of Clayton, Ohio and Robert Spinks of West Chester, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Dayton National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton VA Hospice in Jerry's memory.
