Gerald Lee Girdley, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on August 24, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones and holding his love’s hand. He was born on March 3, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio.
Gerald lived a life marked by devotion, service, and love for his family. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Navy after 25 years. Those who knew him will remember him as a loving and caring man. He also loved ATVs and treasured the time he spent with his family.
Above all, Gerald found great meaning in the people he loved. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Morell. He also leaves behind children, Helen Debruler, Gerald Girdley, Jr., and Michael Morell, who were an important part of his life and brought him much pride. His family also includes his grandchildren, Robert Girdley and Tabatha Debruler, who will carry his memory forward with love, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kay Benson, and by his parents, Alvin Girdley and Lilian Girdley.
Gerald will be remembered for his steady presence, his caring heart, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
