George Sutton, Sr.

George William Sutton, Sr., age 84 of New Carlisle, passed away April 8, 2016. He was born on June 30, 1931 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Lorenza and Dovie (Kerr) Sutton. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, Gregory A. Sutton, Sr.; and 8 siblings.

George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; daughter, Phyllis (Edward) Zawodniak; son, George W. (Melissa) Sutton Jr.; brothers: Rev. Roy Sutton and Lorenza Dow (Mildred) Sutton, Jr.; grandchildren: Mike (Michelle), Kristin (Phil), Gregory Jr. (Jessica), Haley and Kayla; great-grandchildren: Madison, Alexis, Ryan and Lucy; sister-in-law, Betty May; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

George retired from the United States Air Force; was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. in Fairborn, and Medway Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday at Medway Baptist Church, 11027 Gerlaugh Road, Medway. Brother Melvin Vansickle officiating. Burial and military honors to follow at Byron Cemetery.
