George W. Ivie "Grandpa", 93, of Miami Twp. passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
He was born October 1, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Carson Reid and Francis Elizabeth (Keyt) Ivie.
George graduated from Roosevelt High School and then went on to serve his country in the US Navy during WWII. After his service he graduated from the University of Dayton where he earned a degree in Psychology. Over the years he sold real estate, managed Dayton Coil and Springs, and was the Hotel Chief Engineer at Hampton Inn.
He loved sitting on the back porch with his dogs and listening to talk radio.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Schwartz) Ivie, his son, Ronald Ivie, and his granddaughter, Connie Purt. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Purt; his grandson, Chet (Jamie) Jarnigan who was like a beloved son to him; his 2 great-granddaughters, Cora and Abbie, and other relatives and friends.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm until time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Newcomer, South Chapel.
