George W. Evans, Jr. (“Georgie”), passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 67. Born on October 31, 1958, in New Carlisle, Ohio, George was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Throughout his years, George stood as a pillar of strength and kindness to his family and friends. Remembered for his gentle humor and steadfast character, he was devoted to those closest to him. George’s legacy lives on through his children: his daughter, Angie Perez, and his son, George Evans, III. His story continues through his beloved grandchildren—John, David, Grace, and George—who brought him immense joy. The youngest generation who will carry his memory forward includes his cherished great-grandchildren, Rosalia and Dominic.

George was also a treasured sibling, survived by his brothers Mike, Jeff, and Ed, and his loving sister, Sue. He dearly missed his father, George Evans; his mother, Donna Evans; and his brother Mark, who preceded him in passing.

Born and raised in New Carlisle, the roots George put down in Ohio remained strong all his life. He built a legacy not just through family ties, but through the values he upheld—honesty, humility, and compassion for all.

In September of 1979, George listened to his Nation's call and joined the United States Navy, earning the rank of Operation Specialist First Class and numerous medals along the way. He retired in September 1999, after faithfully serving for 20 years.

The Evans family fondly remembers George for his warmth, wisdom, and the quiet moments he cherished with them. His presence at family gatherings, his support during both triumphs and challenges, and his unwavering love will be dearly missed.

Honoring the values by which he lived, George’s life stands as a testament to the importance of family and the power of kindness. Those who had the good fortune to know him will continue to feel his influence in their lives, holding dear the many memories they shared.

George W. Evans, Jr. leaves behind a host of loved ones who find solace in knowing that he is reunited with those who passed before him and whose own lives were made better by his love and dedication. His family and friends mourn his loss deeply but are eternally grateful for the years they had together and the invaluable lessons he imparted.

The family will hold a private service in George's honor at a later date.
