It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Geanetta Dee Obrien, affectionately known to many as Dee Dee. Born on February 17, 1971, in Kenton County, Kentucky, Dee Dee left this world on April 12, 2026 due to an automobile accident. A cherished homemaker, she devoted her life to her family and those she loved most.
Dee Dee was a woman whose spirit shone brightly with warmth, kindness, and an unyielding love for those around her. Her days were often filled with the simple yet joyful pleasures of life—riding around in her car with music playing, soaking up the summer sun, and embracing the outdoors. Known for her goofy, fun, and loving nature, Dee Dee had a heart so big that she would do anything for anyone, leaving an unforgettable imprint on the lives she touched. Her children were her pride and joy, and she was their greatest supporter, always cheering them on with unwavering devotion.
Her family was the center of her world. Dee Dee is survived by her devoted children: Britanee, Keisha, Nasasha, Whitney, Selena, and Nathan; and a beautiful legacy of grandchildren: Carmello, Alicia, Antonio, Aerial, Jaxson, Carter, Koko, Promise "Prom Prom," Honor, and Honest. She also leaves behind her loving mother, Deborah Sturgeon; her sisters Deborah "Frankie" Hedger, Tonya Obrien, and Teala Sizemore; and brothers Doug Obrien and Terry Obrien, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her presence.
Dee Dee’s journey was touched by loved ones who have passed before her: her father Steve Curtis, brother Daniel Obrien, and the father of her children, Paul "Rocky" Phillips. Though they are no longer with us, their memories live on in her heart and in the stories shared by all who knew her.
The family invites all who knew Dee Dee to celebrate her life and legacy at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Willow View Cemetery.
Dee Dee will be remembered as a beacon of love, joy, and compassion—a warm spirit who made the world a better place simply by being in it. Her love for her family was boundless, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know her gentle soul. Rest in peace, Dee Dee, your light will guide us always.
