Gary E. Stanley

Gary E. Stanley, born October 19, 1947, in Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 12, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio.

Born in Tennessee, he moved to Waynesville, Ohio with his parents and attended Waynesville High School, where he was among the school's very first Varsity Football Team. After graduating, he attended The Ohio State University, also playing football as a walk on under Woody Hayes.

Gary proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, exemplifying courage and honor. After his military service, Gary married his wife, Mary, and raised three children. He became an independent contractor in Afghanistan and Iraq for many years where he continued to support his country. 

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Stanley; beloved wife, Mary B. (Powers) Stanley; and infant daughter, Erika R. Stanley. He is survived by his children, Paul (Brittany) Stanley, Adam Stanley, and Erin (Nicholas) Baker and grandchildren, Ronan Baker, Mary Baker, Penelope Baker, Vera Stanley, Jude Stanley, and Thomas Stanley.
