As was his way, Gary Newcomer fought more successfully against ALS than most are lucky enough to do. After a 4 year struggle, he decided it was time to move on to the next adventure. He left us on October 10th, 2017, one day after the 47th wedding anniversary for him and his beloved wife, Linda. He also leaves a daughter (Jennifer), son (Jake), dog (Molly), and many dear friends.
My dad lived life like few do. He had an uncanny ability to be constantly active, but remain relaxed. He was steadfast, yet deeply passionate - fiercely stubborn but loving and gentle. Thirty-five years at Wright-Patt allowed him to build the life that he wanted, but his deepest reasons for living revolved around family and the sporting life. From his youth onward it was tennis, swimming, racket ball, golf, camping, skiing, boating, fishing, bird hunting, and lots of scuba diving. We each followed in his footsteps to the best of our ability. Most importantly though, he taught us all that love is an action word, and that the beauty of living lies in the simple.
Thank you pop,
Jake
