Gail Lynne Whitaker Young

August 23, 1953 — November 3, 2017

Gail Lynne Whitaker Young, 64, of Kettering, ascended to the Abha
Kingdom on November 3,2017, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1953, in Philadelphia to Ruth Helen (Lehman)
and John Reinert Whitaker.

Gail, a 45-year member of the Baha'i Faith, served communities in West
Lafayette, Ind., and Columbus, Cincinnati, Kettering, Randolph
Township and Madeira in Ohio, as a teacher of children's classes and in
various offices.

She was a 1971 graduate of Fairmont West High School in Kettering and
received her Bachelor of Fine Arts after studying first at Purdue
University and then The Ohio State University.

Gail served 12 years as an administrator for the Kettering Health
Network Institutional Review Board, responsible for the ethical review
of human research projects. She previously worked with her husband in
an ice cream and candy business in Dayton and was involved in sales
and teaching of needlecraft classes. Favorite activities included
gardening, needlework, reading, boating, and fishing.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Randal Clark Young;
daughters Bethany Lynne (Eric) Crease of Miamisburg, Laura Jeanne
(Ryan) Burns of Manassas Park, Va., and Kristina Ruth Young and Wil
Weissman of Taylor Mill, Ky.; two grandchildren, Serena and Alexander
Crease; her parents of Miamisburg; sisters Debra (Jerry) Lovell of Port
St. Lucie, Fla., Alecia (Dennis) Sizemore of Lynchburg, Va., Michele

(William) Sheaf of Orlando, Fla., and Marsha (Scott) Wierschke of Cape
Canaveral and metro Orlando, Fla.; her in-laws, James and Jayne
Aglamesis of Cincinnati; sisters-in- law Pam (Bernard) Svalstadt in
Newport Beach, Calif., Karen (Tom) Vanderheyden of Naples, Fla., and
Dianne (John) Lytle of Cincinnati; and a number of nieces, nephews,
step-nieces and step-nephews.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, November 8,2017 from 5-7PM.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017
11a.m.at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering
Blvd. Kettering, with burial to follow at David's Cemetery, 4600 Mad
River Road, Kettering. A reception will be follow at St. Paul
Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood.
