Garland Jeffery Robinette passed away at his Beavercreek home Wednesday May 19th, 2021 at the age of 77. Garland always hated his name…his parents hated his name. In fact, his mother loved the name Lynn and Garland didn't even know his real name until he was in 6th grade (talk about a bad day for a 6th grader). The next six years weren't much better for the name Garland, and an entry in his yearbook written to "Gaylord Fartenbacher (Garland Jeffery)" shows his classmates weren't a big fan of the name Garland either. He went by Jeff and anyone who knew him called him Jeff. Luckily for Jeff's oldest son, Nikolas Robinette the name Garland passed away with Jeff.
Jeff was highly intelligent, analytical and a little quirky…a lot quirky. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and worked for the government as a civilian until the day he died. He diligently worked in various Engineering roles on planes such as the F-16, F-15 and Stealth. He was an absolute badass.
Jeff discovered an insatiable love for dancing later in his life. Nothing brought him more joy than ballroom dancing, with a close second being talking about ballroom dancing. He loved those close to him deeply and expressed it poorly. If he told you stories you were loved – if he told stories about you, then you were deeply loved.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents Garland Jessie Robinette and Lilley Elisabeth Robinette, and his many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sister Diana Woods, the mother of his children Carol Storer, sons Nik (Jessica), Andy (Natalie), and Dan (Megan) Robinette, and his grandchildren Madison, Kyndra, McKayla, Kenzie, Brock, Emilia, Lily, London, Alexandrea, and Juliana.
A celebration of his life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel on Wednesday June 2nd from 4:00 to 6:00 followed immediately by a ceremony at 6:00 with burial the following day at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at the Dayton National Cemetery to sleep in Christ until his resurrection upon Christ's return.
